Last month we needed to refresh a XP machine so we started over. I wanted to refresh my memory so I installed "XP". The one that has no SP1 or later and then the drivers for the machine. Some folk new to installing XP forget all the drivers so I'll not write more about that but head to the issue I wanted to refresh myself on.
All looked OK but our network was set to WPA2 AES personal security and no matter what drivers I tried it would not offer WPA or WPA2.
So back to Ethernet and let Windows do the 270 updates. Maybe it was 273 but that step took all day.
So all updated and installed the motherboard and WiFi driver and helper app and it connected on the first try.
Never seen this problem before, and ive fixed alot of problems with wifi for alot of people.
The following happend and happens:
The computer has been reinstalled with windows xp to orignal settings.
When i try to connect to the wireless netwerk with wpa/psk tkip encryption it doenst connect. it keeps saying that it keeps searching for the certificat. This is when i fill in the network information manualy.
When i search for networks and connect to the network. it doensnt ask for the network key and it looks like its connecting to an other computer. When that fails after minutes of waiting, i look at the details of the network and it says its an open WEP connection.
The same computer is able connect to all other wireless networks using wpa-psk. Other computers have no problem connecting to the same network. And before the reset of the computer everything worked fine.
The connection is to a router attached to the modem.
Does anyone know what i should do?
Thanks in advance
