Poor audio such as you mentioned it, refers to too much going on. The PC can't keep up. if you reboot and try again, I'm sure it works well. Sometimes OS issues crop-up because MS has dragged it all up since the days of XP til now. Also, some newer audio ports/cards to get the full effects, are pretty demanding, like 5:1 or surround speakers, etc., all those effects need PC horsepower and that can be outstripped or if used before audio demands, older process haven't cleared yet and/or backgrd. running tasks, apps, pgms, etc.. Reboot and try again. I do this often in order to have good burns on DVD drives for example.
