I see AVG Safe Search is no longer compatible with Firefox again! How long do we have to wait this time?

..good question!

I'm anxious for the compatibility upgrade as well. In March -on the AVG support forum- I saw a posting where AVG stated it would happen with their next 'cumulative program update', but didn't give a time-frame for that to take place. This is one of the reasons I still haven't updated my Firefox from 10 to the new 11 version...

Delay

Thanks Ondrej, However i can't understand why there is a delay in the first place as all the info you need to update AVG is (according to Firefox) available long before they release there latest update. The delays just seem to have got worse over the last few months, and now Firefox are going to silent automatic updates i can't see it getting any better.

Hello AFQR2009,

We are aware about this, and we had prepared scheduled release plans to cover Firefox's releases with already compatible AVG add-on, but our schedule was delayed by other discussions and additional verification. Because of this also releases of compatible AVG add-on are delayed.

Please keep in mind that this add-on (link to FAQ) evaluates search results and typed links based on internal database (updated daily like virus database updates). Main protection from exploits in source codes of visited websites is LinkScanner's Surf-Shield component, which is checking whole HTTP communication and is not bound with used browser (or it's version).

In addition, we are already running our AVG Secure Search (powered by Google) at http://isearch.avg.com, which warns about malicious websites in search results based on online database and without need to have AVG installed (evaluation is being made on server side).

Thank you

Thanks for the response. My spouse loaded the Mozilla Firefox 12.0 onto his laptop already but we will watch for the Safe Search feature on the AVG program update , hopefully in the next few days (as stated), and then update Mozilla on my desktop pc from version 10 to the 12.. (not willing to leave the Safe Search feature with the older program yet Happy

Hello wendimere,

Please be informed we have released mentioned AVG 2012.0.2169, which has compatible Safe Search add-in with Mozilla Firefox 12. It should be available as program update for Service Pack 1 users. Or just run repair installation with latest installation file (Free/Pro - download, run and in the installation wizard choose "Repair").

Thank you
