Or is this more than one answer? The issue of size is noted.
2. My advice.
I drop the record speed by about 1/2 the noted media rating. I rarely have any issue.
I don't understand the sizes of disks available for CD-R and CD-RW. They started out with 650MB disks, then 700MB disks came out and now I've seen even higher ratings (750MB? and 800MB).
I know that my machines will not work with the 700MB disks because I bought a pack once, they write most of the disk and then get errors toward the end.
Is this due to software or hardware? Is there any way I can use higher rated disks short of replacing my drives? Someone told me it's all in the software.
What do people do now with older machines. I can no longer find 650MB CD-R disks to buy and the CD-RW disks at 650MB are getting sparse.
Any help is appreciated in helping me understand this.
I have Pentium IV machines (a desktop and a laptop) running Windows XP SP2. Both have a CD-RW drive.
