Cant click anywhere inside Word document

by angelsgrace16 / September 13, 2009 3:44 PM PDT

Starting last night all i can do in Microsoft Word 2007 is type. I can't click anywhere in the document, i cant select anything. I can move around with the arrow keys but that's really annoying. I have troubleshooted this online and everything I've read is NOT helping me. I've gone to review or developer tab and there's a protect document option, it is set to unrestricted access. This is like this everytime i open Word. And when i close down the file i get a lil pop up saying Microsoft word has stopped working, and windows is looking for a solution which of course they can not find. Please help me fix this. I have papers to write for classes.

Workaround only.

1. Write your papers in Wordpad.
2. Download OpenOpenoffice.org and write your papers in Write.
3. Download Lotus Symphony from IBM

All free. All excellent word processors to write papers.

The first thing to do with this kind of strange Word problems: create a new Windows account and try there. If it's OK there, it's something in your current account. If it's not OK there either, it's something on system level.

Does winword /safe or winword /a from the command prompt work?

add-ons?
by jeff_windows_team / September 15, 2009 7:40 AM PDT

Have you installed any add-ons recently? Uninstall any if you have and see if that fixes the problem.

If you are unsure about add-ons, start Word in safe mode by typing "winword /a" in the Run box. Let us know what happens.
