Both very good.
As for XLR mic inputs, the XLR adapters from BeachTek and juicedLink work fine. They put the audio gain knobs (1 for each channel) in an easier to reach (more useful) place. The Sony HDR-FX1 and HDR-FX1000 are the prosumer siblings to the Z1. If you like Canon, how about the XHA1?
Hi, I'm looking at purchasing a camcordor sometime in the near future. I've narrowed it down between two cameras; the Canon XL2 and the Sone HDV Z1. I've had prior experience with a Canon XL1, and am very comftorable with the camera, but im opting for the XL2 because I want a camer with XLR mic inputs. But I'm also interested in the Sony HDV Z1 because it shoots in H.D. images. I was curious to know what you guys think is the better of the camera. Thanks!
