Canon SD780 or SD1400

by Confused Buyer / September 25, 2010 8:18 AM PDT

I am purchasing a digital camera through a gift catalogue points system and have narrowed it down to these 2 choices. I am not concerned at all about price because these 2 cameras are worth the same value in points through this catalogue.

It seems like the SD1400 has some better features but the reviews I have read are inconsistent. I am primarily concerned with picture quality. I am a point and shoot user and generally take photos of landscapes while on vacation or friends and family.

Can anyone advise?

Go for the 1400. It's a newer model with a wider, longer, and brighter lens. Image quality between the two would be about the same.

The SD1400 may have some better lens specs, but the SD780 remains the tiniest Elf Canon has ever released, even 3 years later. Besides decent videos and still photos, this tiny pocket rocket even has a viewfinder! (omitted on most cameras these days, despite screens that wash out in bright sunlight).
