Can't download to Adobe digital Editions

by arkie77 / May 3, 2013 1:14 PM PDT

I've been downloading EPub books, from my library, to Adobe Digital Editions, then moving it to my e-reader. But, when I tried to download an EPub book, today, the Windows Media site came up. How do I tell my computer I want Adobe Digital Editions to be the default? This has happened, once before, and the library tech fixed it. She isn't there, anymore and their tech doesn't know how to fix the problem. Thanks for any help.

You need to fix the file associations
by Jimmy Greystone / May 3, 2013 2:01 PM PDT

You need to fix the file associations. Select some random epub file, right click on it, select "Open with...", pick the program you want to use to open the file, make sure the "always use this program" (or something to that effect) box is ticked and just hit okay.

Can't download to Adobe digital Editions
by arkie77 / May 4, 2013 2:20 AM PDT

I pulled up one of the books that is downloaded, but I can, only, read it on my computer. When I plug in my e-reader and tell it to send it there the message tells me it write protected. I right clicked on the Epub file but the choices it gave me to open with was Internet Explorer, Notepad, Safari and Word Pad. Then, it says browse other programs. When I do that, the only comparable program, in the list, is Adobe. At the bottom of that page, it says file name, programs and open. When I type in Digital Editions and hit open, it opens up Digital Editions. I'm, totally, flummoxed now. I must be doing something wrong. Thanks for help.
