Can I use some cam's parts in other cams... ? help !

by Mikel72 / June 10, 2010 11:20 AM PDT

Hi

I have some lens (two) one is a Macro and the other is a lent, they belong to a Panasonic Digital Video Camcorder which was stolen. I just wonder if I can use this lens with another digital camera (NO VIDEOcam)
I think I should take advantage of what I have, they are new and look nice and powerful.

Somebody know about this matter?

Thank you

I would say....

...No. Lenses for video and still cameras, whether digital or not, are constructed differently, and even if you can fit them in, you won't obtain satisfactory results. I suggest that you replace the stolen video cam with one which can use the lenses, or just sell them... e.g. at ebay.....or put the word out ....at the classified section of the local newspaper....

video camera lens on still camera

Although they do make adapters to do this most adapters are for doing it the other way around.

The sensors on a video camera are smaller than most dslr. Even when you can get them to fit you run the risk that the lens will not use the complete sensor in your camera. This is the same problem you have if you put lens that are designed for dslr and you put them on full frame or film cameras.

The other way around seems to be fairly popular. If you search you will find photos of people who have attached huge canon lens to video cameras.
