Can AVI or MPG video files play on SONY Blu-Ray players

by HDTV_Lover / December 24, 2008 7:45 AM PST

I have couple of questions regarding SONY BDP-S350 Blu-Ray player.

1) Will the AVI or MPEG4 video files play on the player ?

2) The player also has a USB port for external flash memory. Can the above files play from the USB flash memory ?

Any help would be appreciated!

R. Proffitt,

Thanks for your response; that's what I figured. Even after upgrading the player to 2.0, it will not add that functionality ? any thoughts on how to play my rendered video files on my Samsung 650 with SONY blu-ray player ?

Thanks again!

What is "rendered?"
by R. Proffitt Forum moderator / December 25, 2008 12:26 AM PST

Let me share that my definition of rendered would be a Video DVD created by a software title like DVD FLICK (see google.)

I am not 100% sure, but...

I think you need to encode the video to the BD format which is AVCh264 and it can be in a dvd disc media. You could check Nero or corel to see which software can provide that.
