By the way, don't they have webshops in Israel (you say you can't buy it online)?

Any new PC or laptop you buy nowadays, even the cheapest one, is perfectly suited for word processing and e-mailing and browsing Internet to look up facts. So it's quite impossible to buy something that doesn't suit your needs.

A basic laptop is cheaper than a basic desktop+screen+keyboard+mouse (don't know about Israel however), but the desktop lasts longer and is cheaper to repair if needed.
And, of course, if you buy a laptop and enhance it with a larger screen, an external keyboard and a mouse, it will become more expensive.
