The best time of year to buy a laptop will be anytime over the next five years... except right now. Pentium-M's are really optimized PIII's and pre-duo 2 desktops will seem ancient without flash-laden harddrives, multiple cores and smart caching systems. Wait until September for the release of the Core 2 Duo ''T-Series.'' It would be smart to wait until next year for Vista, however, but we don't know when that will come. We just know they are searching for enough reasons to make it relevant to the upgrade community besides pretty graphics or programs that you could already download such as a google-like enhanced search.
I am assuming right around now --- back to school time, might be best.. I am not going to wait forever for the newest technology (vicious circle I know) but I would like to consider a merom laptop - - - can anyone tell me the best time to buy then? Will the meroms not be available until further down the road anyway? Thanks
