Best Tablet PC...

by MCsocko / August 22, 2006 4:36 PM PDT

Hey I am going to be a college student and I have been looking at getting a Tablet PC so taking notes on a regular basis would be a breeze...

I basically want the best possible Tablet Notebook out there that is able to be customized so i can boost the memory and what not... Price isn't really an problem because the money my parents are donating to my cause along with the money ive earned over the years can cover probably 2 or 3 computers :-). Leave your feedback about what you think is the absolute best Tablet out on the market today... thanks

We had such units and note taking was not a strong point.

Recommend the IBM/Lenovo X-41

I did a bit of hands-on research awhile back and the IBM X-41 tablet pc is the best choice in terms of performance, weight/portability and notetaking.

The handwriting recognition, i believe, is the same on all pc tablets. But what seperates the X-41 from the rest is the more tactile, paper-like writing surface. The screen/stylus contact feels a little rougher--like using a pencil vs the slippery feel of other tablets. This makes a huge difference in how well your wrting appears on the screen.

(NT) (NT) Tablets aren't v good. A UMPC is better, but still bad.
