Best Digital Publishing Software?

by DeclanDec / January 5, 2011 11:08 AM PST

I am the editor-in-chief of a new student publication at my college. For economical and environmental reasons, we are publishing online only.

We will be designing the magazine on iMacs/MacBooks with Adobe InDesign CS5. We will want to export it to a digitally flippable format.

Some features we want included are: thumbnail contents pane, search function, 'share' feature with e-mail, facebook, twitter at minimum, zoom in/out.

We will probably never surpass the 100 page marker.

We will publish 6 times a year - twice every 11 weeks. (for college, that's twice a quarter)

We want Google analytics capabilities.

We also want to be able to seamlessly integrate audio and video.

I have been researching e-magazine / digital publishing software for hours but am not finding anything that I am impressed with. Prices and features range dramatically and there are very few professional reviews to offer guidance.

Please list some InDesign to digital magazine online publishing platforms with features, prices and reviews.

I want the most powerful option at a student budget friendly price.

Hi Declan,
Have you found a digital publishing solution yet?

I work for a digital publishing company called Zmags - Have you
come across them yet?

We have offices in both the US and UK, I'm UK based - It certainly sounds as if Zmags can accommodate all your needs - if you would like to
discuss price etc in more detail please do get in touch.
