Question

Bell icon on Doro 410

by dkthomasson / June 24, 2013 3:36 AM PDT

Little yellow bell with a black rectangle partly overlapping it, looks like the number 7 in the rectangle.

What does this icon indicate? It never changes.

It isn't voice mail

I checked, and I have no voice mail messages.

It could indicate that the ringer is muted.

I looked up the phone manual online
by birdmantd Forum moderator / June 24, 2013 7:06 AM PDT

According to the manual, that icon is for the alarm, not sure what the black rectangle with the line through it means. You might try contacting the manufacturer if you don't get a more precise answer.

I blocked the alarm function
by dkthomasson / June 24, 2013 8:10 AM PDT

When the alarm was operative, it had a bell icon in the menu. But blocking the alarm removes that. So I'm just puzzled by the same icon residing on the "desktop."

According to the slim user manual.

An alarm has been activated. The rather slim manual writes this:
"Alarm
Enter the Menu from the standby screen, scroll down to the Alarm option and select OK. Within the alarm function you will be presented with 2 options, On or Off"

None of the alarm settings remove the icon
by dkthomasson / June 24, 2013 8:12 AM PDT

With the alarm function active, I've tried it in the ON and OFF positions. The icon remains. Then I block the alarm function entirely, but the icon remains. It isn't causing any problems that I'm aware of. I just don't understand its purpose.

Here is the increasingly notorious icon
by dkthomasson / June 24, 2013 10:23 AM PDT

There's no diagonal line through it. Also, it stays there no matter how I set the alarm: on, off, or disabled. It's like the BO smell in Seinfeld's car, impossible to remove. At least I can smell it!.

Here's what it looks like:

The alarm is NOT ACTIVE
by dkthomasson / June 24, 2013 12:16 PM PDT

Let me say this yet again: On the Settings menu under "Block Functions," I have blocked -- disabled -- the alarm (along with other functions like the calculator). If the alarm is NOT ACTIVE, they why on earth would there be an alarm icon on the opening screen?

I'm not asking for your uneducated guesses. I'm just asking whether anyone here KNOWS anything about this. If you don't KNOW, please don't offer your guesses.

In fact, never mind. I'll phone Consumer Cellular. Why I ever posted here I'll never know.

AMF.
