It might help if you tell more about the issue you want to fix, and who adviced you "of update and applying it".

Hi Welshwinger,

If the Identity Protection is inactive after updating AVG and no restart took place since the update yet, please restart your computer. That will most likely rectify the situation.

If the Identity Protection component is still inactive, we would like to ask you to provide us with an msinfo output for analysis.
Alternatively, you could contact AVG customer care experts via phone or chat, if you prefer one of these avenues.

Thank you.

Hi Welshwinger,

Thank you for the provided data. In past AVG registered a conflict with ask.com software, please uninstall it (using Windows Control Panel) and restart the computer to make sure this is not the case. Also, the Iobit Advanced System Care software could be conflicting with AVG theoretically. Please try uninstalling it temporarily too, restart the system and let us know results.

Should the issue persist, please check whether there are no AVG processes blocked from launching in registry as described in this AVG Forums post (#9713) and then provide us with all AVG log files and operating system event logs for further analysis.

Thank you for your cooperation.
