AVG not active anymore

Just checked AVG activity and it says there are no active components. Computer, web browser, identity and emails all marked unknown... Also said update failed and connection offline. Tried updating new version from CNET alert email and message came back the line was broken....

Anyone around who can help me???

I'd just download and install it again.

I use the free version, don't know about you, so I'd just download a fresh copy unless you have an install disc which you could use. You might have to do an uninstall via the Programs & Features applet of the Control Panel first. When you get it working, I'd boot to Safe Mode and do a full system scan for viruses & malware.

I thought of that myself, but had trouble opening in safe mode in windows 8 with McAfee tech...not sure how to do it... any suggestions???

Find a working PC & download to a flash drive

Download AVG on a working PC to a flash drive, then use that on your computer.

AVG Free version reporting Inactive

I had this problem recently with AVG Free 2014. (Windows 7)
I cured it by going to Control Panel, Uninstall a program, Right clicking on the AVG entry in the list and choosing the 'Change' option. (NOT the Uninstall option)
This carried out a full repair of AVG and after a re-start, everything was fixed !
