by axgj88 / October 11, 2009 11:13 PM PDT

I don't see a version of free AVG EXCEPT the 32 bit version. Can anyone direct me?

Doesn't actually say there is a 64 bit version anywhere

In reply to: Link below

No where in the reply post does there indicate there is a 64 bit version. It just provides a link. It doesn't say it will work on a 64 bit operating system. I've looked all through these forums and I haven't actually found anything that describes or points to a download for a 64 bit version. Not to mention that most of the answers I see on this forum are vague.

Can someone specifically answer the question? Is there a 64 bit version of AVG free for Windows 7 (64 bit) or Vista (64 bit)? If there is, can you provide a specific link for this?

Also you need to start listing 2 separate downloads on the product pages. One for 32 bit and one for 64 bit.

It simply won't install on 64 bit Windows 7

It simply won't install on 64 bit Windows 7 and that is why people are asking about this. I tried several times unsuccessfully...it doesn't say that is why it won't install, but I finally figured it out. I searched for a 64 bit version and looked at the link it gave me when the installations failed, but they gave no helpful information...just took me back to the site for downloading. I needed to remove a trojan, so I tried Avast since someone on one of the forums I was searching suggested it. It looked like it installed, but it didn't. When I right clicked the icon to look at compatibility, it said it was a non-compatible product. Then I went to ESET and was able to install it and remove the trojan, but that is a temporary fix since it is a 30 day evaluation version. Maybe the staff at AVG should investigate this instead of just telling people it will work, because it won't.

Hello countingbackwards,

Please welcome in thread from year 2009.

Installation files (online installer with auto-decider of operating system type, 32bit and 64bit) of AVG Free are now easily available on this website:

http://free.avg.com/ww-en/download-free-all-product

We are not aware about any global issue of AVG installation on 64bit operating systems (I have wrote this post from one - Win7 64bit - and AVG is fully working).

Please gather AVG installation logs and MSinfo32 output, upload it in an archive (zip file) to favorite online storage and provide us with link to it, so we can analyze the situation.

Thank you
