could you please delete folder "AVGdownloadManager" from Temp folder? (open menu Start -> Run -> enter "%tmp%" and confirm OK) And check the situation again.
Else please use the full AVG installation file - direct link http://free.avg.com/download-file-ins-afg-free - instead of the download manager version to check, if installation will be then successful.

This missing license number situation is not related with used internet browser. But version (status) of Internet Explorer could influence the next installation progress - I have met situations, where older (6.0, 7.0) and corrupted version of Internet Explorer caused uncompleted AVG installation. It is enough to keep the browser updated , not needed to use it or have it as default browser.
I'm tryin to download the free version of AVG 9 and during the installation process the licence number is not automatically inserted. I have tried the back button and the link suggested in one of the other threads on here. I have Google Chrome brower is this a problem??? Do I have to use internet Explorer??? I'd really rather not. Any suggestions please?? Thank you
