My first test is to try bootable CDs. Then bootable DVDs. If either fail I clean the lens and try again. If that fails I slip in a new drive.
There are other issues with Windows and the drive but it's used so use the factory restore now since you have nothing of your own to lose.
I recently purchased a used asus laptop, and did not know the the Blu-ray disk drive didn't work. I was hoping that someone would be able to give me some advice as how to trouble shoot the drive or advice as how to fix it, or if i just need to find a way to replace it.
