Are there any free video editing programs that support .mov?

by Mike_Nintendo / October 5, 2008 9:24 AM PDT

My camcorder, an Aiptek A-HD+ 1080p Hi-Definition camcorder, uses .mov/H.264 files. My videos' types are always NSmov; idk wat that is, but it's still probly a .mov. The size of this video is 165 MB (173,509,114 bytes).

Now, Windows Movie Maker doesn't support that file type. I've searched my butt off forever trying to find a free program that supports .mov, but none do!!!!! I can't get an answer from anywhere, not even CNET forums!

This video I need to edit is me playing my video game, and the video is 11:01 mins long, and I need to crop it down by 1 second so it can fit on www.youtube.com cuz they only allow up to 11 mins of video to be uploaded.

Plz plz PLZ someone help!!!!!!! I'm desparate!! It was a really good video, and I really need to crop it down by one second so it can fit! But there is like no way in the world I can seem to find how to edit .mov files!!! It's rediculous!!

And converting them is too hard and degrades the video, so plz don't suggest that unless it's guaranteed to work without ruining anything =(

Thank u SO much in advance!

Cuz I went to upload my .mov file from my desktop, but it wouldn't appear in the box, so it doesn't support it...

It works, but I only get the audio...

It works, but when I play the video, there is only audio, and no video. It's just a black screen with a giant blue "!" there, but I can hear the audio fine. Why is there no video??

I wonder.

By now you've posted this issue more than a few times. After running down one dead end after another plus that you won't clear off hard disk space to use any tools, why not lead off your new post with some history rather than keep posting the same thing without telling all?

Wat r u talking about...

I have enoguh space all I need is a program that can work and edit my .mov/mp4 files. They're not that complicated! Someone has to know how to edit them, and I'm not gonna stop until I find out how. NEVER gonna stop. That's how desperate I am. Pathetic, right? Well then it shouldn't be this frekaing hard to edit a simple .mov/.mp4 video...it's not like it's some sort of elite executive IBM video file...someone HAS to know. And I wont rest untill I find out how to edit a .mov/.mp4

The Cnet forums have a bug in that you might not be you. There was a Mike_Nintendo with a lot of posts about converting from that camera. They were getting very frustrated over it. Turns out they didn't have the disk space or the patience or much else to work with. Sorry since you claim not to be that person.

Dude, WAT R U TALKING ABOUT?! U know I'm the only Mike_Nintendo on this site...wat ur saying to me isn't making any sense at all. So at if I said those things before? The disk space issue was only for that ONE program... I'm srry if I'm causing the site problems, well, I'm just very frustrated, ok?? I had this question un-answered for several months. It's rediculous. I know someone has to know it. All I'm asking is how u edit a simple .mov/.mp4 video file. It's a common file type. But everyone's acting like they never heard of it before...

Convert.
by CMN240967 / October 6, 2008 9:06 AM PDT

Just convert it to Divx (.Avi) You wont notice a quality loss and you can easly find something to convert it and edit it.

In reply to: Convert.

I've tried several .mov to .avi converters, and none of them work. They all have to be purchased otherwise it makes the video crappy, or only converts the first 2 mins of it or watermakrs it or watever.

The trial can only convert 5 minutes of the video, and mine is 11 minutes.

It's ok, ur forgot it wasn't free. I'm looking for a free .mov/.mp4 to .avi converter that's free AND works without it saying BS like "Can only convert X amount of minutes of the video".

I'm looking for a free .mov/.mp4 (H.264) to .avi converter that can convert around 165MB videos of my video game.

Oh and also...

I forgot to mention one major problem bigger than trying to find a converter: Windows Movie Maker crashes whenever I import a converted video!!!!!! How do I fix this?!?!?

And I guess I'm gonna have to buy the Magic Converter thing that u sent me. The only thing is is it's $20 and I only have $5 from spending $50 on a new video game lol... (I don't have a job =P)

So yea guys, forget the converter issue, I should be more worried about this newer issue that WMM crashes when I import converted clips. PLZ HELP!
