by Big Steve / September 30, 2013 11:48 AM PDT
For a first time tablet purchase is Apple's iPad 2 with 16GB a good choice to consider if all I plan to do with it is surf the web and maybe check email? That's it.

I've gone to CNET Reviews a lot from time to time; too many tablets to go through on CNET Reviews which is why I decided to post my question here.

My post was an answer to the question by ronald777. He asked for a review of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, and I gave him the link.
It certainly wasn't an answer to your question about the iPad.

And please don't use bold.

If that's all I would be doing

I'd look at a Kindle HD for what may be half the price. HOWEVER this "surf the web" is not like the PC web browser. I wonder how many know this?

Are you saying if I spent $399.00 for one of those Apple tablets I wouldn't experience the same by "surfing the web" as I would while using my Dell 15.4" laptop with Windows Vista? I better hold on to my money.

Not only that I'm writing it.

I've lost count of folk that expected all the same web access as their PC.

Let me take just one web site as an example here such as hulu.com.

You won't be able to use that on a tablet (so far apple and all the others.)

If you curb your expectations, you get close.

Sorry but what's up with the bold text?
by R. Proffitt Forum moderator / October 1, 2013 1:54 AM PDT

As both are the same in almost every detail why did you ask this question?

Why not tell folk what's up with the bold so they know and it's not a mystery?

Then it appears you may be sending folk a mystery message. You may have reduced the number of folk that will reply. Your choice here but as it stands I predict you may be very upset at the limitations of browsing with a tablet. See my recommendation below.

Why can I no longer track this discussion or any other discussions on this board and why have all of my past tracked discussions been removed; deleted; gone poof? Did you do that Bob P?

I read your forum policy last night looking for anything stating that members could not post comments on this board in bold print and I saw nothing. I don't see a problem but apparently you and another mod does.

After reading some of your other posts,
by R. Proffitt Forum moderator / October 1, 2013 5:40 AM PDT

I went back to read your other posts and given that you didn't know that web browsing is not as capable on tablets this is where I predict you will be very unhappy with most of today's tablets.

-> To avoid this I strongly suggest you look at the Windows 8 Pro tablet since that's going to get you your full Windows PC Web browsing experience.
