by chitraroopa / November 6, 2011 5:08 PM PST

I am having problem in installing avira antivirus premium and personal both. When installaion process starts an error pops up saying that i might me runing a windows update in parallel. At first, I suspected it to be a malware and downloaded "malwarebytes"from here but it didn't find any malware or infection.I tried installing in safe mode but again the error was same.I also tried other antivirus like MSC,AVG and AVAST but after the download completes and i try to install them it says to redownload the files from the website. Please help!

More questions than answers..

chitraroopa..

Prior to making any suggestions, it would help to know the following:

• Which operating system you're running.

• Did the error message also include, "Installation of the Microsoft Runntime Redistributable Kit has failed"? If there was anything more than "it might be running a windows update in parallel", kindly let us know what the entire message read.

• Did you recently recover from a "malware" infection? If so, details help.

• You stated you were having a problem "installing avira antivirus premium and personal both". Was your intent to install BOTH on the same machine? Did you have an antivirus (already) installed, prior to attempting to install AntiVir?

• Are you having any other problems? If so, details help.

• When trying to download MCS (MSE?), AVG and Avast, you wrote: "i try to install them it says to redownload the files from the website.

What is the "it" you're referring to? The "it" informing you, you need to "redownload the files from the website". And WHERE did you try to download them from? CNET? The vendors site?

Help us.. help you. The more details you're able to provide, the easier it will be for us to try to help. One thing I do know for sure. Whatever the reason you were unable to install AntiVir, you surely won't be able to if AVG, Avast and MSE remain.

antivirus isn't installing
by chitraroopa / November 7, 2011 3:14 AM PST
.Operating system: windows xp sp3
.The entire error message was this: Installation of the Microsoft Runtime Redistributable Kit has failed. The probable cause is a windows update running in parallel. Please check if a windows update is in progress and run avira antivirus again a little later .
If the installation fails again, please contact avira support.
set up will close.
.But I was not running any windows update while the set up was in progress.
.No I had no malware infection recently and I have installed "Malwarebytes" from your website and scanned my PC but it didn't find anything infected.
.At first ,I removed my previous antivirus(avira antivirus premium) and then tried downloading avira free antivirus from your website and started installation but when it showed the error message, I downloaded avira anti virus premium 2012 but it showed the same message during installation.I always run only one antivirus at a time.
.No I am not having any other problem and also there is no problem in installing other softwares.
.When I couldn't install avira antivirus free and then avira antivirus premium 2012 ,I tried downloading avast but it didn't download and then I tried downloading avg but the installation stopped with the error saying:
Severity;error
error code;OxCOO70643
Error message: General internal error.
Additional message:MSI engine:Failed to install the product.
@AVGMSI_Error1330
(OxCOO70532)
Context:Installation of AVG core,MSI failed.
.I tried downloading MSI from Microsoft website but when I tried to install it error message pops up saying:
The Microsoft security client Installation wizard can't find files that are necessary to complete the installation.
To install this programe, please download the installation again from Microsoft Security Client website.
.One more thing I always install software from your website only.
