Acer monitor G245HQ freezes

by Wakenaam / November 1, 2012 1:11 AM PDT

Friends: I just bought an Acer monitor G245HQ. This monitor is always freezing for a few seconds occasionally. With a response time of 5 ms I figured this was a good buy. Is there any parameter in display properties I can adjust to address this issue? Thanks for any help.

Is the monitor freezing (not processing the changed signal from the video card)?
Or is the video card freezing (not sending a changed signal to the monitor)?
Or is the PC freezing (not running the program that calls the video card to send a changed image to the monitor?

You only know when you try this monitor on another PC and another monitor to this PC.

Acer monitor freezing

Kees_B: Thanks for the response. The signal was OK when I was using a NEC CRT monitor with the same PC. So it must be a problem with the Acer monitor.

Highly unlikely a monitor issue, if it is in fact actually freezing.

BTW, I've seen this.

The owner did prove changing monitors caused the PC to freeze but the fault was still the PC and not the monitor. Sadly it took months for them to accept that and I fear they visited all the shops in town trying to convince someone it was true.

I know it was true but it didn't mean the fault was in the monitor. They could change the monitor but my bet is that the issue would either repeat or come back later.

I concur Bob, IF it is freezing imop it is NOT the monitor, I have never personally seen a monitor do a freeze frame without the problem being system related, not the monitor doing it's own thing.
