I have an Acer X163W monitor..and a very annoying message that continues to appear dead center of the screen: "Auto Config Please Wait". I want this message to go away forever. It is not only distracting but is limiting the use of my computer - please help

Acer Monitor Auto Config Please Wait Message

In reply to: Have you

I have used every trick the manual suggested, to no avail. I cannot get the message to go away. If I hold a button down on the bottom rim of the monitor, it will go away, but pop back immediately when I let go.

A solution

The same message on my old Acer AL1916 began appearing. I tried numerous fixes without success. Then I realized there is an auto config button below my desktop monitor. I pushed the button repeatedly trying to get it to turn on and off, with limited success. Then I discovered that if I held the button down the message disappeared but when I let the button come back up the message reappeared. So I used an old clamp that was in my workshop to hold the button down. The message disappeared, never to return. After 24 hours I removed the clamp. Still no message. Apparently the button was stuck and the clamp shut it off. Hope this helps someone.
