Acer eRecovery management problem.

by intlman86 / June 28, 2009 12:22 PM PDT

I was trying to restore my system to factory default. So I open my Acer eRecovery management program and click "restore system to factory default". It tells me that it will restore my system and overwrite everything on my C: Drive and asks if I want to continue. I hit yes. Then it tells me

"An unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will be shut down immediately.

COMExeption. "

And when I hit continue, it doesn't let me proceed. I clicked on details and it tells me this:

"See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog."

Can someone help me or tell me what to do? Thanks.

Then try now to make them. You don't have to tell but why didn't you create them?

My netbook didn't come with an optical drive. I only recently got an external dvd drive.

Always a choice we make.

Today's machines may or may not come with restore media and with netbooks you make the choices. For those that make other choices they can pay for recovery media or services.

I have the exact same error that you posted. I also tried to run the eRecovery on my Acer Aspire One. I have no idea what to do now, did you find a solution?

Yes I did.

In reply to: I have the same error

I own an Acer Netbook and when this fails I have to order the media.

This is why I connected a rather new DVDRW drive and created the media. Then I made a duplicate just in case.

Solution

I was having the same problem when I was trying to access Acer eRecovery in windows, due to being thoroughly infested with the MS Antivirus 2009 trojan. What worked for me was to re-boot the machine & on the Acer splash screen start tapping ALT-F10 continuously until you enter the Recovery Managment System(If you get to the windows xp screen you went too far). I was then able to do a pc recovery no problem. More detailed instructions can be found here: http://www.pchell.com/support/erecoveryservice.shtml Hope this helps!
