Hi i have and Acer Aspire T160 originally windows XP when it broke down (Viruses) i opted to do a fresh install. But this time i installed windows 7 x64 and then it worked for two days then displayed ""NO bootable Device Insert boot disk and press any key"" when i went to BIOS settings, i could no longer see the hard drive. I bought a new hard drive, and inserted and could now see it in BIOS settings. I tried to install windows and it told me to insert a recovery disk. When i did, it was very slow loading windows files and then got stuck at loading windows file. I'm confused as to while i can't install windows on a new hard drive. Secondly, i loaded Bios to default and now the display blacked out and when i power the computer, the fan starts and remains constant without display or even the little beep it normally produces. Someone HELP ME UP HERE PLEASE.

Then it needs more repairs. This could be one of the basic parts such as power supply, video card, motherboard, RAM or some cable, card is unplugged. There is no exact do this to fix as you use your best guess and experience to find what it is. Newer techs will swap out good as well as bad parts.

http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/acer-aspire-t160-2/4505-3118_7-31749463.html finds a run of the mill PC. You might want to retire it for not much and replace it with a ready to use refurb of comparable or better stats. Example at newegg and geeks.com such as: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=DX4870-UB17-FB-R&cat=SYS which I see for 320 with i3 CPU and a whole list of goodies. A hard disk alone at the usual outlet is 100 bucks so you can rack up quite a bill repairing old gear.
