Question

Acer Aspire 7740G-6364

by Slippy_the_Clown / November 2, 2012 1:52 PM PDT

I've got an Acer Aspire 7740G-6364. Based on my understanding this has an Intel HM55 Express Chipset. Is there anywhere that I can look for options with regard to processor upgrades?

I know upgrading a processor on a laptop requires disassembling most of it (which I'm not worried about and have done on other systems). The thing I am currious about is IF I can upgrade the processor.

Stock the 7740G is equiped with an i5-430M. Based on my understanding from Intel's site the chipset can support several i7 models... Am I thinking this through correctly? I realize processor upgrade in a laptop my not be popular or affordable... but I want to know if it can be done before I slap down the cash for a new processor to find out it wont work.

ANY guidance in this would be greatly appriciated!
