Question

A 350 issue

by Wilk1313 / June 29, 2013 3:03 AM PDT

Whenever I turn the camera on it does a little shudder and slight sort of rattle for about 4 seconds. I've had this camera for a few years but this just started a few days ago. The camera works fine still, I just don't like my equipment to swear at me whenever I start it up.

Any suggestions or clues???

That camera can shake the sensor to clean off the dust. That is likely the 4 second rattle you hear.
But according to the User Manual it only does that if you initialize the "clean" mode. See page 32.

You should first charge the battery and see if that solves the probem.

After that you should reset the camera to the default settings.
See pages 124 and 125.

That is what Sony recommends for unusual problems.

Neither of these solutions solved the problem, but thanks for the effort.

Then my bet is the sensor is beginning to fail.

The rattle is expected and can be triggered not only by dust but a failing sensor.

Did you have this camera cleaned? I find many owners think cameras, laptops and such are just bricks that never need service.
