I tried to replace the crank shaft sensor as that has been a problem before, but still won't start. I have been through a lot with this Jeep. I have had the dreaded stalling/backfiring/crazy electrical problems long ago. I've replaced the distributor, crank/cam/map sensors, fuel pump, 2 ecu's. Before this problem the car was running just fine. Then one day driving to work it cuts off like there is no gas. Now it cranks over strong, spark out of the plug wire, fuel in the rail. I'm at a loss as to what to check now. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
My 4.0 with 220k miles died on the freeway and now it won't start. I hooked a spark tester to the plug wires and got a spark. I can hear the fuel pump turn on and when I pressed the valve on the fuel rail it shot gas out with pressure. Car turns fine, no electrical problems. Any ideas on what to check next?
