Question

55 inch LED 6300 Samsung

by Steve45013 / March 23, 2013 5:49 AM PDT

I have a Samsung LED less than 3 Years old. Recently it started turning off intermittently after about a half of an hour. It would happen when commercials came on or when we changed channels. We thought it was the converter box so we had TWC change put the box. The tech determined it was the fault of the TV. In checking on the net it sure seems this an inherent problem with the Samsung TVs. Any help available? We are looking to get a 70 inch for our lower level, but will not even consider Samsung if this is what we can expect. We are also looking to buy a summer home in Ft. Collins that we need to furnish.

Use canned air to dust out the vents and be sure it's not in some enclosure as heat can build up.

Always call it in so the makers can check on recalls and service bulletins.

Hi Steve45013,

Sorry to hear about this. I'd like to clarify something: you said this happens intermittently after about 30 minutes, and it would only happen on a channel change or a commercial. Can you define the behavior any more tightly for me? I ask because the behavior of the time span would suggest that it's overheating, but the other information about a channel change would indicate that it's related to an input drop. The commercial should nothing to do with it because there's no special signal transmitted for a commercial. So is there something else you could add here to help tie it to one of these two options?

Nothing more to add.....tried cleaning out all vents in case of blockage. The thing about overheating, nothing has changed in the mounting or positioning of TV. If it is overheating it has nothing to do with change of environment. We have an extended warranty so called GEEK Squad and when I explained circumstance, the CS rep immediately said he thinks he knows what the problem and ordered the part. I asked him if this was a common problem he gave me the distinct impression that he was VERY familiar with this problem, which leads me to think it is quite common.
