Question

2 tv/monitors, 1 pc, tow rooms, wireless

by Scottbdoug / December 31, 2012 12:32 AM PST

Hello everyone,

Hopefully you can help me with a small project i would like to do.

At present I have my pc hooked up to my 40 inch Samsung Tv in my bedroom via the vga cable. I want to buy a larger tv/monitor for my livingroom but not buy another pc for it. I'd rather just send a signal to it so I can play movies or tv shows I have on some external hd's connected to the pc in my bedroom on the monitor in the livingroom. I'd rather not use a wire running from my bedroom to the livingroom, is there a way i could do it wirelessly? And have some kind of remote to access the pc and/or the hd's in the bedroom?

Thanks.

The cost was higher than another small PC. I hope you discover this before you try to go wireless.

The usual network share.

Video over wireless is still pretty short range. Then you have the issue of how to control the PC then you discover how laggy the video link is. If you just want to play video files you can try those Smart TVs but remember the video decoders are a fraction of what a PC offers. Some folk get pretty upset that some MKV/MP4/other encoding does not play.
