Paramount Plus streaming TV and movies
James Martin/CNET

There are so many streaming services to choose from these days that it can be hard to know which offers the best content and the best value. While we're fans of Paramount Plus' wide catalog of familiar shows and movies, its sports offering and its access to Showtime originals, a recent price hike might have been enough to put some folks off. If you've been thinking about checking out Paramount Plus, however, there's an opportunity to do so for less with 50% off the regular cost of an annual subscription

Paramount Plus offers two different subscriptions, and you can save on either with this promotion. The Essential plan, usually $60 for the year, is down to $30 and gives you access to Paramount Plus shows and movies with limited commercials, as well as NFL on CBS, top soccer games and CBS live news. The top-tier Paramount Plus and Showtime bundle, down to $60 for the year from $120, offers all the features of Essential while removing ads for everything except live TV and a handful of shows, plus access to the entire Showtime library of movies and shows plus your local CBS station. You can also download content for offline viewing.

If you're looking for a cheap way to watch NFL games this year, Paramount Plus represents one of the more affordable ways to do so -- subject to local availability and blackouts. Sure, it's not every game but if you just want to catch a few contests this year alongside the plethora of movies, TV shows and other sports content available through Paramount Plus, it saves paying for a premium sports-specific service.
