Made In is having its biggest sale of the year for Black Friday, and it includes some of my all-time favorite kitchen gear and cookware.

If you're not familiar, this six-year-old kitchen startup has been churning out some very fine pieces these last few years, and its wares are about as giftable as kitchen equipment gets. The company works with legacy manufacturers in the US, Italy and France, tapping folks that specialize in a particular pot, pan, dish, plate or glass that it intends to add to its line for a custom Made In edition. Right now, Made In is having a rare site-wide Black Friday Sale and some of its high-end cookware, bakeware and dinnerware are as much as 30% off.

One of my personal favorites is the blue carbon steel frying pan -- a material used by top chefs, but one that hasn't really caught on in home kitchens for reasons that are unclear. Made In's 10-inch blue carbon pan is down 20% to a very attractive $63. Or you can grab the smaller 8-inch for $55. 

If you're not familiar with it, blue carbon steel gets screaming hot, similar to cast iron, but it's much lighter and has a natural nonstick quality. It takes a smidge more care than stainless steel but, in my opinion, is totally worth the trouble -- especially if you cook lots of steaks, burgers, scallops and pork chops.
