Apple/CNET

There's a wide spectrum of tablets on the market right now, but if you're looking for an ultraportable device, there's no beating the iPad Mini. One of our favorite iPads for 2022, this small tablet this packs in all the features you get from a larger slate in a more convenient package. And right now, Amazon is offering a discount on the popular Apple product. You can save $99 on the 2021 iPad Mini (64GB) in purple, space gray and starlight. That brings the price to just $400. But this deal is only available for a limited time and discounted Apple products tend to sell fast, so we recommend ordering sooner rather than later to ensure you nab one at this price.

If you're a commuter, the 8.3-inch screen size is ideal, as it's lightweight (10.4 ounces) and easy to store. Not only does this iPad sport the new A15 Bionic chip (which was used in the iPhone 13) for impressive performance, but it also features a Liquid Retina display with True Tone and wide color. Its 12-megapixel camera records in 4K, automatically centers you during video calls and can even scan documents quickly, which is perfect for conducting business on the go. It charges via USB-C.

This iPad is also compatible with second-gen Apple Pencils, so you can write, highlight, draw and more, which is why tablets are so versatile. And it gets up to 10 hours of battery life per charge. Note, however, that this iPad only has 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM. While the storage isn't an issue when you can save stuff to the cloud, the RAM could slow you down if you're trying to do major video editing or other big projects. If most of what you do on your tablet is share and edit documents, stream media and play games, this is a solid option. In fact, the iPad Mini supports Wi-Fi 6, so speed won't be an issue.
