Amazon/CNET

If 2023 is the year where you finally plan get your smart home started, Best Buy has an unmissable deal on the latest Echo Dot that you need to check out. Over there, you can nab the fifth-gen smart speaker at 50% off, dropping the device back down to its Black Friday all-time low of $25. The discount is only available today, though, so you don't have long to think about getting in on the savings.

Like other Alexa devices, Amazon's smallest smart speaker can stream music, set alarms, get the weather, control your smart home gear and much more. Being so tiny, the Dot can blend into any space, making it ideal for those wanting to add Alexa to even more rooms.

This 2022 Echo Dot model is the latest version and offers an improved audio experience for clearer vocals, deeper bass, and vibrant sound and also features an integrated temperature sensor that can tie in with your home heating routine. In addition to those updates, the new Echo Dot includes a new sensor that enables tap gestures on the top of the device, making for a convenient way to turn off timers and alarms.

And if you use Amazon's Eero mesh routers in your home, this Dot can work as an extender, adding up to 1,000 square feet of Wi-Fi coverage with support for speeds up to up to 100 Mbps.
