Darth Vader. Unicycle. Flames. Bagpipes. 'Star Wars' theme.

The Internet can pack up its bags and go home now. Some guy dressed as a kilt-wearing Darth Vader rode a unicycle and played the "Star Wars" theme on flaming bagpipes.

Darth Unipiper
I'm sure George Lucas never saw this coming. Video screenshot by Amanda Kooser/CNET.

Back when George Lucas was first creating the "Star Wars" universe, I imagine he paused for a moment, stared off into space, and thought, "Gee, I sure hope this inspires some guy in the future to put on a Darth Vader costume, ride in circles on a unicycle, and play the theme song on a bagpipe with flames shooting out of it."

The Unipiper, a Portland performer with the real name of Brian Kidd, recently blew everyone's minds with a video of himself circling about on a unicycle in a parking lot in front of a giant "Keep Portland Weird" mural. This would be unremarkable, except he was also wearing the top half of a Darth Vader costume above his kilt while playing the famous strains of the "Star Wars" theme on a bagpipe with flames roaring out from the top.

The Unipiper's performance is pretty much the last word in unicycling-Darth-Vader performance art. I don't think I would get the same thrills and chills from, say, a unicycling Yoda or Chewbacca. My only suggestion would be upgrading to a black kilt, because I'm pretty sure that's what Darth Vader actually wore in the privacy of his own Death Star cabin when he felt the need to cool off his below bits.

My final thought all this is that it would make a fantastic addition to a "Star Wars"-themed game of Clue. "It was Darth Vader in the parking lot with the flaming bagpipes!"
