Canon announces new camcorder

Canon announced Tuesday the upcoming release of a new high-end digital camcorder. The GL2 includes a 20X zoom lens with image stabilizers, the ability to shoot still photos at resolutions of up to 1.7 megapixels, USB (universal serial bus) and IEEE 1394 connections for transferring images to a PC, and advanced audio options. The camera is set to go on sale in mid-July at $2,999.
