Tritton Warhead 7.1 wireless gaming headset

Wireless gaming headsets are always great, and they make a lot of sense for console gamers who tend to sit further away from their gaming device of choice, making cables a bit of an issue.

But for the Xbox gamer, there' has always been a need for cables — to get voice chat from a wireless headset, you still needed to connect the headphones to the controller. However, the Tritton Warhead 7.1 is the first wireless gaming headset licensed for Xbox to ensure that chat functionality is built-in from the get go.

Aside from that impressive bonus, the Warhead has Dolby 7.1 channel surround sound with 50mm neodymium speakers. It comes with two rechargeable battery packs that charge via the bay station, allowing you to quickly swap back and forth for all day gaming.

Game and voice volume can be altered independently — you can turn down your opponents trash talk without losing any gaming sound effects. Plus, there's the usual run of EQ setting, including movies, voice controls and, of course, all the toggles are found on the ear cups for ease of reach.

The Warhead also uses the 5.8GHz channel for its wireless connectivity, meaning that you won't get interference from devices on the standard 2.4GHz band.

So far, this looks like an (expensive) winner, although the design is just a little bit more angular than we'd normally like. We'll get a full review out shortly.
