In brief

As far as high-end home theatre projectors go, 2012 is proving to be the year of 3D. As in, availability, if not enthusiasm for the technology from the buying public.

The lamp in Sharp's new DLP projector is rated 1600 ANSI lumens and is claimed to deliver a contrast ratio of 50,000:1. Key features on the Z30000 are keystone correction in both the horizontal and vertical planes, as well as image shift.

At the back of the unit there are two HDMI inputs and an RS-232C port. The projector also ships with two 3D glasses, an infrared transmitter and remote control.

The XV-Z30000 will be available from March 2012 with a recommended asking price of AU$4999.
