The 3D55A7000i is the flagship TV from Changhong, the Chinese company that's new to Australia, but is a big push into the local market.
It's a 55-inch Full HD Smart TV with passive 3D and a few other key features packed in.
We've only just got it out of the box, but the construction is certainly of good quality, especially the metal legs and bracket for the base.
The remote is double-sided, with a full QWERTY keyboard on the rear to make the most of the smart TV functionality. All the ports on the rear of the TV can be easily accessed and, overall, the design is nice, with a similar thin transparent edge as the.
In addition to the standard smart TV functions, such as YouTube, Facebook and a browser, the Changhong also support PVR functionality when a USB drive is attached.
Media playback can be done via USB, or you can set it up for full network access. Supported files include AVI, VOB and MPG.
We've only had a quick play so far, but playback from Blu-ray seemed fine, and we liked the playback functions when using the USB file options. Sound seems good, too, with SRS Surround features added to beef up the standard 8W speakers.
RRP is $1799, but we've seen it as low as $1299 online, which suggests that this might be a good option for the budget buyer who still wants a big screen, or anyone looking for a second or third TV. We'll have a full review shortly.
