LG's 84-inch UD 3D TV will be available in Australia from 19 November — here's our video from the launch.

At AU$15,999, this monster of a flat screen isn't going to be in everyone's budget range (although, it's definitely a lot cheaper than was expected). But LG's new 4K TV joins the Sony Bravia 4K in the slight-niche market of TVs with a 3840x2160 resolution. In context, the screen size is four times that of a 42-inch screen, with a pixel density that is four times higher than standard HD. (This is usually called 4K or QFHD, while LG are using the term Ultra Definition for the same resolution.)

Wrapping up this 81kg package is a 2.2 speaker system (two 10W speakers and two 15W woofers), plus passive 3D and an upscaler for standard HD (and lower) images.

The TV will have a limited release — just thirty stores across Australia — when it lands on retail from 19 November. Time will tell if it's the start of a 4K revolution in Australia.
