T-Mobile rolls out wallet-friendly Alcatel One Touch Evolve, Fierce
The Uncarrier announces availability of smartphones and a portable hot spot from Alcatel and Samsung.
T-Mobile on Wednesday announced pricing and availability for a number of new products, including three smartphones and a mobile hot spot.
Starting today, T-Mobile customers can purchase the entry-level Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the Evolve features a 4-inch display and 5-megapixel back camera with fixed focus. Also available today, the Samsung LTE Mobile HotSpot PRO can provide 4G LTE speeds to up to 10 Wi-Fi devices at the same time. The price is $49.99 with 24 payments of $5 or a total cost of $170 without contract.
Looking ahead, T-Mobile will add theto its lineup on Wednesday, October 23. Although it's a more powerful device than the Evolve, the handset ultimately failed to impress CNET. While the 4.5-inch qHD display and dual-core 1.2GHz processor sound good on paper, they did not offset the slow speeds and fixed-focus camera. The One Touch Fierce will cost $19.99 down with 24 payments of $6 for a total price of $165.
A Samsung Galaxy Light is expected further down the road; however, T-Mobile is not yet ready to dish pricing or exact timing. Key specifications figure to include Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, a 4-inch display, 5-megapixel rear camera, and front-facing VGA shooter. Under the hood, the Galaxy Light employs an entry-level quad-core 1.4GHz processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.
