Strewth! Aussie accent confirmed for Mad Max game
An Australian campaign to give an appropriately Aussie accent to the lead character in the upcoming Mad Max game has been met with a positive response from the game's producer.
One of the surprise announcements of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) was an open-world action-adventure game set in the same post-apocalyptic universe of the Mad Max film series. There was just one problem: Max had a generic American accent. Deliberately so.
This morning, Christofer Sundberg, founder and executive producer of Avalanche Studios, capitulated to the fan outcry. He tweeted:
Attn. fans who want Max to have an Aussie accent in #MadMaxGame : It shall be so. We admire your loyalty. You have been heard.— Christofer Sundberg (@CHSundberg) July 2, 2013
The petition currently has 2865 signatures — a small amount in terms of fan base, but obviously a vocal crew when it came to social media.
There's no word on who will voice the iconic role in the upcoming games, so feel free to suggest voice actors in the comments below.
