Here's how to set up filters in Gmail to get a handle on the mountains of email you receive every day.

Using Gmail is a great way to get a handle on the mountains of email that you might receive every day.

If you get a lot of emails from a particular sender, mailing list or with a certain subject, but you don't want them cluttering up your inbox, you can set up a filter to automatically sort them as they arrive.

Head to the cogwheel at the top right hand side of Gmail, and click Settings. Then, click Filters and "Create a new Filter", where you can insert a particular keyword, sender or subject line that you want to sort by. Once you've decided what you want to sort, click "Create filter with this search", and you can choose how Gmail should deal with the messages that match this criteria. You can do anything from skipping the inbox and archiving it to applying a label or even straight out deleting it. Click "Create filter", and you're done!
