Samsung launches Web site to show off its design prowess

The timing of the launch coincides with the latest round in the company's ongoing court battle with Apple over product designs.

Samsung has launched a new design-focused site aimed at showcasing its abilities with product design.

The company's Design page focuses on two things: the stories behind its product designs and "meaningful stories" that showcase the importance of design. The site itself is very "designed" in its nature, and also includes some Samsung news.

That Samsung has decided to launch a design-focused Web site showing off its abilities at this time is perhaps no surprise. Apple and Samsung are embroiled in a courtroom patent dispute over which firm violated patents held by the other. In addition, over the last several years, Apple has been alleging that Samsung has copied its product designs and has not actually come up with anything original. The new Design site tries to throw out that argument.

Despite the ongoing tech lawsuits, Samsung's Design page doesn't focus just on smartphones and tablets. The page includes the attention to detail that goes into building refrigerators, televisions, and other products.

CNET has contacted Samsung for additional comment on the site. We will update this story when we have more information.
