Retail deals of the week, 9 April 2014
After a slow start to the year, the retail catalogue deals are starting to gear up for the year. Here's our pick of the best this week.
Dick Smith is going hard on gaming this week.
Target is starting its pre-Easter Toy Sale tomorrow, and it includes a number of good offers for gamers of all ages, especially if you're not desperate to upgrade to the latest console on the market.
You can pick up a PlayStation 3 bundle, including a 12GB console, and a choice of Battlefield 4 or FIFA 2014, for AU$199 (that's a saving of AU$159 according to Target).
If you do want to go for the next-gen models, you can save AU$69 if you buy the 500GB PS4 console bundle with Assassins Creed IV Black Flag, available for AU$569. Target has also cut AU$57 off the price of the Nintendo 3DS XL, bundled with Zoo Resort 3D and Imagine Champion Rider for AU$249. Finally, you can pick up iTunes gift cards for 20 per cent off.
Also in time for Easter, Dick Smith is offering 20 per cent off Cygnett phone mounts for road trippers, as well as up to 70 per cent off games and accessories for Xbox 360 and PS3. It's a good chance to pick up Call of Duty Black Ops or GTA V, if you haven't added these games to your collection yet.
Finally, Dick Smith has cut AU$130 off the price of Panasonic's 500GB-capacity DVD recorder -- it's now down to AU$369, and this deal is also available in David Jones, thanks to Dick Smith's recently-announced partnership with the department store.
Laptop hunters take note: JB Hi-Fi has taken AU$200 off HP's Pavilion 15-inch Notebook, so now you can get a 4th-gen Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB of Ram, a 750GB HDD and Windows 8.1 for under a grand (AU$996).
Finally, if those old earbuds of yours are starting to wear out, The Good Guys has some solid discounts on headphones, including 30 per cent off all Beats headphones, 40 per cent off all Sony and Sennheiser headphones and 50 per cent off all Panasonic and Logitech headphones.
