It has taken over two years, but if you've been jigging on the spot waiting for Pinterest to open its doors, the website has just announced open registration.

The website has had a meteoric rise this year, reaching 11.7 million unique users in January 2012 and becoming the fastest-growing website in the history of the internet. It drives more referral traffic than LinkedIn, Google+ and YouTube. It is the third most popular social network, behind Facebook and YouTube.

The company said today in a blog post:

For those of you who haven't joined Pinterest yet, this means you can sign up without waiting for an invite; all you have to do is go to Pinterest.com to get started. In addition to using your Facebook or Twitter log-in, we're also opening registration so you can sign up with just your email address.

To sign up and join the pinning bonanza that is sure to follow, just head over to Pinterest.com.
