The 4K-capable Panasonic Lumix GH4 now has an Australian RRP, and it's very competitive.
Panasonic's GH series of Micro Four Thirds interchangeable lens cameras have become popular amongst videographers thanks to their small design and high-quality output. While the body and overall layout of the GH4 feels similar to the older GH3, the new camera gets 4K video recording, a new AF system and better continuous shooting speeds.
The GH4 will be available in Australia in a number of different configurations. Body-only pricing will be AU$1999 which makes it incredibly competitive compared to other 4K-capable video cameras on the market — for example, the 4K-capable BlackMagic Production Camera is US$2999. In the US, the RRP of the GH4 is US$1699.
A single-lens kit complete with the 12-35mm f/2.8 lens will be AU$2999. A special interface unit adds other connectivity options such as XLR inputs and SDI control, as well as HDMI output for 4:2:2/10-bit video recording. This will cost AU$2649 on its own, or AU$3999 packaged with the GH4 body. All of the aforementioned configurations will be in Australia from early May 2014.
Also announced from Panasonic was a Leica Summilux 15mm f/1.7 Micro Four Thirds lens which is arriving in June for AU$799.
