Nintendo's Aussie arm has announced details for its new handheld at an exclusive Sydney event. The 3DS is to launch in Australia on 31 March 2011 for AU$349.95.
Last month Nintendo hosted events in Europe and America simultaneously, detailing the launch of the Nintendo 3DS in those regions. While Australia usually aligns with PAL markets, details on the Australian launch of the device were noticeably absent from the briefings.
That all changed last night at the official unveiling of the Nintendo 3DS. Being released on 31 March, Nintendo's stereoscopic handheld console will be available for AU$349.95 and will be released alongside several launch titles. Games that will be available on day one include Nintendogs + Cats, Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, Ridge Racer, Lego Star Wars III, The Sims 3, Pro Evo Soccer and more.
When it launches on 31 March 2011, the Nintendo 3DS will be available in two different colour variations: Aqua Blue and Cosmic Black.
In Nintendo's home country of Japan, the Nintendo 3DS retails for ¥25,000, while it will sell for US$250 in the United States and £229 in the UK.
